New and replacement lawns across Redditch estates, where modest suburban gardens deserve a flat, durable lawn laid on soil that has been properly loosened and levelled.
Much of Redditch was built as a new town, so a large share of its homes date from the 1960s through to the 1980s. The gardens that came with them are typically modest: a rectangle of back lawn, a smaller front patch and a path or two. They get used hard, and they rarely get the attention they need.
After several decades, plenty of these lawns are uneven, thin or overrun with moss. We replace them with fresh natural turf, working on estate plots of all shapes. The job is usually quick to arrange, and because the gardens are compact, we can often deal with the whole thing, from clearing to finished lawn, in a short visit.
Houses of this era were often built on ground that was cut and filled, with a thin skim of soil put on top at the end. Decades of mowing and play have packed it down further. If you simply lay turf over that, roots stay shallow and the lawn struggles in the first dry summer. We loosen the surface, remove stones and debris, and add topsoil where levels have sunk. A final pass with a rake and roller gives an even bed, and a smooth base is what you notice later.
Old lawn removal sounds disruptive but, in a small garden, it is quick work. We cut and lift the worn grass, take the waste away, and prepare the bed. New turf is then rolled out in tight, staggered rows, with edges cut to match your paths, patios and borders. Families often want a durable finish for children, trampolines and pets, and we can recommend a suitable mix. For a front garden, a neater, finer lawn may be more appropriate, and we will discuss which suits you.
Small gardens benefit from small habits. Water the turf thoroughly and often enough to keep it moist in the early weeks, particularly along fences, where it dries first. Avoid heavy use until the grass has rooted and cut it high at first. Further down the line, lawn repairs are easy on a compact plot: a worn patch near the back door can be cut out and replaced, and bare areas can be topped up with fresh turf rather than starting again.
We cover all the main estates in Redditch and the surrounding area, including routes towards Bromsgrove, Studley and Alcester. Many estate gardens have side gates or rear access that make delivery simple, though some terraced rows need materials carried through. Let us know what the access is like and roughly how big the lawn is. We will visit, check the ground and give you a free quotation, with plain advice on what the job really needs.
We also take on lawn turfing work in nearby Bromsgrove, Studley, Alcester.

“Jim and Dan did a brilliant job on my 90ft conifer. Its a lot safer now and I have more light in the garden...”
“The boys did an excellent job... pruned my trees back and remove one tree that had split...”
“The guys were prompt & proffesional removed an old ash for me thanks guys”
Often yes. When moss and uneven ground are widespread, the cleanest fix is lifting the old lawn, levelling the soil and relaying turf. Light problems may respond to repair, and we will tell you which applies.
Many compact gardens can be completed quickly, but it depends on how much clearing, levelling and soil work is required. We give you an idea of timing during the quotation.
A hard-wearing grass mix handles play and pets better than a fine ornamental one. We discuss how the lawn is used, then recommend something suitable from what we can supply.
