Turf laying in Pershore, where Georgian streets and Vale of Evesham gardens call for a tidy, level lawn that suits a handsome town setting.
Pershore is a small Georgian market town in the Vale of Evesham, and many of its homes have a formal, well-proportioned look. The lawns in front of and behind them deserve the same care, whether they are small courtyard squares or longer gardens running back from the street.
We supply turf and install it, and we can also look after the preparation, so the whole job stays with one team. Most of the lawns we are asked about in a town like this are either worn-out originals or new areas created after building or landscaping work. In both cases, we plan from the ground up.
Vale soils are often fertile but can vary a lot from one garden to the next. Some are light and free-draining, others are heavier and prone to staying wet. We find out which you have before deciding on the right preparation. Rubble, roots and old edging are removed, and the surface is levelled with a rake and straight edge. Where more depth is needed, we bring in topsoil, then firm it by treading and raking so that it does not settle unevenly later on.
If your existing lawn is patchy, full of weeds or uneven, replacing it can transform the garden. We strip off the old sward and dispose of it, then lay natural turf directly onto the prepared soil, working in staggered rows so that joints knit together. Georgian town gardens often have crisp lines, so we cut edges cleanly to paving and beds. If you would like a lawn that copes with children and pets, we can discuss which turf suits the use.
Water is the single most important thing in the first weeks. We explain how often and how much, and what to watch for if the weather turns hot or windy. Mowing starts once the turf has rooted, and the first cut should be light. Lawns that are in reasonable shape but patchy can be repaired with turf patching or renovated through aeration and overseeding. We are happy to advise on which route fits your lawn and how much work it will involve.
We cover Pershore itself and the nearby villages, along with Evesham, Upton upon Severn and Droitwich Spa. Some town centre gardens are reached only through a side passage or the house, which affects how turf and soil arrive, so please mention it. We will visit, look over the plot and give you a free written quotation. If you would like to phase the work over more than one visit, that can be arranged.
We also take on lawn turfing work in nearby Evesham, Upton upon Severn, Droitwich Spa.

Yes. Small front lawns are common and work well with turf. We prepare the bed carefully, cut cleanly around paths and walls, and advise on keeping it watered in the first few weeks.
It gives the roots a loose, nutrient-bearing layer to grow into, and helps fill dips to make a level surface. If your existing soil is poor or thin, adding topsoil makes a noticeable difference.
Turf gives an instant lawn and can be laid over a longer part of the year, while seed is cheaper but slower and less forgiving. We lay turf, and can explain the trade-offs if you are unsure.
