Garden fencing in Stratford-upon-Avon, covering period town gardens, riverside plots and newer estates, with panel and post replacement, storm repairs and well-chosen gates.
Stratford-upon-Avon is a town of contrasts, with period houses close to the centre, newer estates further out and the River Avon running through. A boundary that works in one setting can look wrong in another, so we begin by looking at the property rather than reaching for a standard kit.
Our team carries out garden fence installation, replacement and repair across the town. Free visits mean you can ask questions before committing, and the written quotation lists what is included. If a repair would do the job, we say so plainly.
On newer estates, fences are frequently short, standard panels between neighbours, with a gate to the side, and replacement is a case of matching what is there. Around the older parts of town, boundaries are less regular: walls, hedges, old fences of mixed heights. Here it pays to walk the line before fixing a design. Posts need to avoid tree roots and old drains. Where a fence runs beside a path used by others, a bit of extra height or a solid panel may be wanted. Concrete posts and gravel boards suit shared boundaries that you do not want to revisit soon.
Trees in older gardens add to the wind problem, since a fallen branch can flatten a run of fence in seconds. If a tree has caused the damage, tell us where it landed, and take care before moving anything, because branches under tension can spring. We can fit replacement panels and posts once the area is clear. Gardens near the river can have softer ground, which makes posts work loose in storms. Fallen fence panel replacement is straightforward if the posts are sound, and we will check them before deciding.
Period properties often look right with traditional styles such as closeboard, picket or post and rail. Newer homes can take slatted or contemporary fencing with a clean finish. Think about how the fence meets the house and any existing gate, and about long-term upkeep: painted finishes need regular attention, while stained or natural timber is easier to keep up. For gates, size and swing direction matter most. A gate that opens over a path or onto a pavement can be awkward, so plan the opening carefully and use well-set posts.
We cover Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding area including Alcester, Shipston-on-Stour and Warwick. As a busy visitor and market town, Stratford can have restricted parking on some streets, so give us a note about where a van can stop. Close to the river, ground can be wet, which affects post choices. All visits and quotations are free, and we are happy to talk through both repairs and complete new boundaries.
We also take on garden fencing work in nearby Alcester, Shipston-on-Stour, Warwick.

“Jim and Dan did a brilliant job on my 90ft conifer. Its a lot safer now and I have more light in the garden...”
“The boys did an excellent job... pruned my trees back and remove one tree that had split...”
“The guys were prompt & proffesional removed an old ash for me thanks guys”
It is courteous and often sensible, especially if the line is shared or the fence is being moved. We cannot settle ownership disputes, but agreeing the plan first avoids problems. We can provide a written description of the proposed work to show them.
Once the tree or branch is cleared, we replace broken posts and panels. If the tree belongs to a neighbour, responsibility for the damage is a separate question; keep a note of what happened and when. We deal with the fencing side of things.
Neither is automatically right. Paint can give a crisp look and suits picket and front boundaries, but needs regular touching up. Stain lets the grain show and is easier to maintain. We can discuss which suits your house and how much upkeep you want to do.
