From narrow Victorian yards to big suburban lawns, Gloucester gardens vary a great deal, so each artificial grass job starts with a look at space, access and drainage.
Gloucester is a Severn-side city with two quite different kinds of garden. Close to the centre, Victorian terraces have small yards and tight rear access. Further out, the large modern suburbs have broad lawns that take a lot of mowing and a lot of rain.
We install artificial grass in both. In a terrace, the challenge is getting materials in and out and finishing neatly. In a suburb, it is covering a wide area with a base that will not sag. The details differ, but the aim is a flat, durable surface that drains well.
On Victorian plots, old soil may include brick rubble, ash or buried paths, and we clear what is needed before compacting the stone base. Access is often through the house, so barrows and dust sheets come into play. On suburban estates, the issue is usually heavy clay near the surface, which needs a thick free-draining layer above. A membrane goes down to separate soil from stone and block weeds, and the edging ties everything in around paths and borders. Whether the lawn is three metres or thirty, the sequence is the same, and the care taken at the start shows in the finish.
City gardens work hard. A small yard may be the only outdoor space a family has, so durability matters. We recommend dense, hard-wearing pile for heavy use and pet-friendly artificial grass for dog owners, with a base that lets liquid drain. Children's play areas benefit from a smooth, firm foundation and, if wanted, a cushioned layer. If you rent out the property, a low-maintenance artificial lawn can make sense, since it looks presentable with little attention. We will discuss realistic expectations about odours, heat and wear.
With the Severn close and a good deal of low, flat ground, some Gloucester gardens hold water. We check how yours drains now, and may add soakaways, drainage channels or extra stone depth. Once installed, brush the fibres against their lean, remove leaves and clean up after pets promptly. Moss can appear on shady, damp areas and is simplest to treat early. If edges lift or a seam opens, ask us to fix it quickly, as small problems tend to grow. Artificial grass replacement is also an option for older, worn lawns.
We cover Gloucester and the surrounding area, including Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Stroud and Ross-on-Wye. A city job often involves parked cars, narrow back lanes and shared passages, so we plan the delivery and collection of materials with you in advance. We keep the work tidy for neighbours. For a free quotation, tell us the rough size of the garden and any drainage worries, and we will arrange a visit.
We also take on artificial grass installers work in nearby Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Stroud, Ross-on-Wye.

Yes. Stone and spoil go through the house in smaller loads, with floors protected. It takes more time, so we allow for it when quoting and agree the route with you first.
Yes, larger lawns are routinely done. Seams between rolls need careful joining, and the base must be even over the whole area. A big lawn also makes drainage planning more important.
It removes lawn weeds and soil insects from that area, but ants and spiders can still visit. It is not a pest solution. Pulling the occasional weed and keeping debris cleared helps.
