Patio slabbing for the semis, bungalows and estate houses that make up most of Studley, with simple, durable layouts suited to typical 20th-century garden sizes.
Studley is a large village with housing mainly built in the 20th century: bungalows, semis, cul-de-sacs and a good number of detached family homes. Gardens tend to be rectangular and fairly level, which suits a straightforward, well-built patio rather than anything complicated.
The usual jobs here are replacing worn concrete, extending a terrace outside new patio doors, or adding a generous seating area for a growing family. We look at what you have, what you want, and what the plot allows, then price a clear scheme with no hidden extras.
Plenty of Studley gardens still have the original concrete paths and slabs, now cracked, mossy or uneven. Breaking these out is noisy and heavy work, so we plan disposal and access beforehand. Once cleared, we check the ground for old hardcore that can be reused as a base, or for soft spots that need removing. The new patio can follow the old footprint or change shape completely. Many people enlarge the area at the same time, adding a path to the shed or a wider space for a dining set.
Brick-built post-war houses suit most colours, so the choice is more personal than historical. Sandstone slabs give warmth and a hand-made feel. Grey porcelain looks contemporary and needs very little care. Block paving remains the usual answer for drives and wide frontages, and pairs well with a contrasting border. We recommend avoiding very dark slabs in full sun if you go barefoot, as they heat up. Bring any ideas you have, and we can explain how they translate on the ground.
On flat plots the main risk is water sitting where it should run off. We build in a slight fall, usually away from the house, and check where the flow ends up. Where a large area of paving replaces lawn, extra run-off can overwhelm a bed, so we may add a drain or a soakaway. Patio doors need a sensible threshold step, which we set so the new surface does not sit higher than the damp-proof course. Careful compaction at the edges stops slabs from tilting over time.
We cover Studley and the neighbouring area, including Redditch and Alcester. Most estate gardens have good side access, which keeps things simple, though bungalows with narrow gaps need smaller loads and more barrow work. We confirm access on the visit, agree start and finish areas with you, and tidy as we go. Quotes are free and written, and we are happy to talk through alternative layouts or phasing if the budget needs spreading.
We also take on patio slabbing work in nearby Redditch, Alcester.

“Jim and Dan did a brilliant job on my 90ft conifer. Its a lot safer now and I have more light in the garden...”
“The boys did an excellent job... pruned my trees back and remove one tree that had split...”
“The guys were prompt & proffesional removed an old ash for me thanks guys”
It depends on size, access and weather, but a standard rear patio is usually a matter of days rather than weeks. We give you a realistic outline after seeing the garden.
Yes. We build a step or landing to suit the door threshold and set the paving level so water drains away from the house. Safe, consistent riser heights are part of the plan.
Properly bedded slabs on a compacted base cope with normal garden furniture and barbecues. Very heavy items on narrow legs may mark softer stone, so protective feet are a good idea.
