A block paving driveway is one of the biggest single improvements you can make to the front of a Worcester home, and the cost depends heavily on the current surface, the size of the area and how the finished drive will be used. Rather than quote a made-up figure, it's more useful to look at what actually drives the price up or down.
Groundwork and Existing Surface
Removing an old tarmac or concrete drive, digging out to the correct depth and installing a proper sub-base is usually the biggest cost on a driveway job, more so than on a patio, because a driveway has to bear vehicle weight without rutting or sinking. Poor drainage or a driveway that slopes towards the house can also add cost, since it may need additional falls or a soakaway to meet current rules on surface water run-off, which matters in a city with Worcester's flood history along the Severn.
Access for machinery affects price too. A drive that a mini digger and dumper can get onto easily is quicker and cheaper to excavate than one behind a narrow side gate, where material often has to be moved by hand or wheelbarrow, adding significant labour time.

Pattern matters less for cost than groundwork, but herringbone laid at 45 degrees uses slightly more cut blocks than a stretcher-bond pattern, so it's marginally more labour-intensive.
It's also worth budgeting for edging kerbs and any dropped kerb work where the driveway meets the road, since altering a kerb line typically needs council approval and a licensed contractor, which is a separate cost from the paving itself. Ignoring this step, or assuming it's included, is a common source of unexpected extra cost partway through a driveway project.
